Waiting on Washington:

The Next Chapter After Dobbs

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”

— 1 Corinthians 16:13–14

As we conclude this week, four years after the historic Dobbs decision, the national pro-life movement once again finds itself watching Washington.

While there were no major pro-life legislative victories announced this week, several significant federal actions are quietly unfolding that could have far-reaching implications for the protection of unborn children, women, and families across our nation.

These are the issues Kentucky Right to Life is closely monitoring.

FDA Review of the Abortion Pill 🩺

The Trump Administration continues its review of mifepristone, the abortion drug now used in the majority of abortions nationwide.

Pro-life physicians, medical researchers, and national organizations are urging the Administration to restore important safety protections, including:

• Requiring in-person physician oversight

• Ending mail-order distribution of abortion drugs

• Strengthening adverse event reporting

• Ensuring women receive appropriate medical follow-up for complications

The outcome of this review could become one of the most significant federal pro-life actions since Dobbs.

Department of Justice Reviewing

Federal Litigation ⚖️

More than 80 national pro-life organizations have called on the Department of Justice to reconsider the federal government’s position regarding mail-order abortion drugs.

The decision could directly affect states like Kentucky that have enacted strong protections for unborn children.

Congress and Federal Funding 🏛️

As Congress begins work on upcoming federal spending legislation, the debate over taxpayer funding for abortion providers is expected to intensify.

Kentucky Right to Life continues to believe that taxpayer dollars should never be used to subsidize organizations whose business includes ending innocent human lives.

Your voice—and your prayers—remain important as these discussions continue.

Supporting Women and Families ❤️

Protecting life means more than changing laws.

The Administration continues expanding initiatives that connect pregnant women and families with life-affirming resources and support.

This reflects what the pro-life movement has long believed: every mother deserves compassion, every child deserves protection, and every family deserves hope.

Our Work Continues

The Dobbs decision returned abortion policy to the American people and their elected representatives.

The work of building a true

Culture of Life continues.

Today, the greatest challenges include:

✔ Chemical abortion

✔ Interstate distribution of abortion drugs

✔ Protecting parental rights

✔ Supporting mothers in crisis pregnancies

✔ Strengthening a culture that values every human life

Here in Kentucky, we are grateful that our Commonwealth continues to protect unborn children through some of the strongest pro-life laws in the nation.

Yet we also know abortion has not disappeared.

Women continue to travel across state lines, abortion drugs continue to cross our borders, and federal policy decisions continue to impact families here at home.

That is why Kentucky Right to Life remains steadfast in its mission to educate, advocate, and serve—working every day to build a Commonwealth where every life is welcomed, protected, and cherished.

Obergefell: Eleven Years Later

Today marks the eleventh anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges decision. While the ruling focused on the legal definition of marriage, its effects have reached far beyond marriage licenses.

Over the past decade, the national conversation has increasingly shifted away from what children need toward what adults desire, raising important questions about the role of mothers and fathers in the lives of their children.

A recently released national survey of conservative and moderate likely voters found overwhelming agreement that, whenever possible, every child deserves the love, care, and influence of both a mother and a father. The results suggest that many Americans continue to recognize the unique and complementary roles mothers and fathers play in a child’s development.

At Kentucky Right to Life, we believe every child is created with inherent dignity and deserves to be welcomed, loved, and protected.

Strong families remain the foundation of a strong society, and protecting the rights and well-being of children will always be at the heart of building a Culture of Life.

U.S. Supreme Court Update

“Save Women’s Sports”

Decision Expected Next Week

As the United States Supreme Court prepares to conclude its 2025–2026 term before the Justices begin their summer recess, one of the most anticipated decisions still awaiting release concerns the future of women’s and girls’ sports.

The Court is expected to rule in two important cases challenging state laws that reserve girls’ and women’s athletic teams for biological females

These decisions could have far-reaching implications for schools, colleges, athletic associations, and states across the country that have enacted laws designed to preserve fairness in women’s athletics.

Why This Matters…

At Kentucky Right to Life, our mission has always been rooted in the belief that every human person possesses inherent dignity and immeasurable worth.

We are proudly ProLife and ProWoman.

We believe women and girls deserve opportunities to compete on a level playing field where fairness, safety, and equal opportunity are protected.

Defending opportunities for women is not contrary to respecting the dignity of every person—it reflects our broader commitment to recognizing the unique value and worth of every human life.

As legal and cultural questions continue to unfold, we remain committed to promoting policies that protect women, strengthen families, and uphold the dignity of every person.

Please Pray..

Weekend Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Grant wisdom to our nation’s leaders as important decisions are made in Washington.

Protect every unborn child, strengthen mothers and families facing unexpected pregnancies, and guide those entrusted with public service to uphold the dignity of every human life.

As we await these important decisions, we ask you to join us in praying for the Justices of the United States Supreme Court.May God grant them wisdom, courage, and discernment as they fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.

May their decisions reflect truth, protect the dignity of every human person, preserve fairness for women and girls, and strengthen a culture that values both justice and compassion

May our hearts remain faithful, our voices courageous, and our actions always reflect Your truth, compassion, and love.

Amen.
