Kentucky Right to Life Responds to Federal Order to Kentucky Cabinet Remove Gender Ideology from Sex Education
WASHINGTON, DC — AUGUST 26, 2025 — The Trump Administration has put 46 states and territories, including Kentucky, on notice to remove gender ideology from federally funded sex education curriculum.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued letters warning states that continued inclusion of this content in the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) violates the scope of the grant established under the Affordable Care Act.
Kentucky, a recipient of $1.4 million in PREP funding, has until October 27 (60 days) to submit a modified curriculum or face possible loss of funding.
California’s grant was terminated last week for refusing to comply. HHS has made clear that federal funds will not be used to advance gender ideology or undermine the well-being of children.
