LOOKING NORTH TO INDIANA In neighboring state to the north Indiana, on May 14, 2026, the Indiana Supreme Court allowed the state’s pro-life protections to remain in effect by declining to reconsider a lower court ruling that upheld Indiana’s abortion law.
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita called the decision an important victory for both the state and unborn children as Indiana continues defending its pro-life laws against ongoing legal challenges.
Indiana was the first state after the Dobbs decision to pass a new abortion law through legislative action, and the ruling serves as another reminder that states continue playing a major role in shaping abortion policy and protecting unborn life.
TENNESSEE ELEVATES THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY
WOW… Neighboring states. Just south of us in our neighboring state of Tennessee, Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed June as “Nuclear Family Month,” reaffirming the importance of strong families, marriage, children, and parental stability as foundational to a healthy society.
The proclamation emphasized the importance of the family unit — including biological, adoptive, and foster families — and expressed concern that the traditional family structure is increasingly under cultural pressure and in need of support and protection.
Not surprisingly, the announcement sparked immediate criticism from LGBTQ activists and national media outlets. In today’s culture, many institutions — from corporations and sports organizations to government agencies and retailers — now routinely participate in annual Pride Month observances during June. Tennessee’s action served as a reminder that such observances are cultural and political choices, not federally mandated requirements.
Historically, Pride Month observances grew from activist demonstrations that began in the early 1970s and later evolved through presidential proclamations issued by Presidents Clinton and Obama. While presidential proclamations carry symbolic significance, they do not establish binding law.
Tennessee’s proclamation has renewed a broader national conversation about the importance of family, faith, marriage, children, and the role stable homes play in building strong communities and nations.
At Kentucky Right to Life, we continue to believe that strong families remain the foundation of a healthy society and that mothers, fathers, and children deserve support, encouragement, and protection in a culture that increasingly challenges those values. |
