Kentucky Right to Life Responds to Death of Notorious Convicted Killer Kermit Gosnell
Louisville, KY — March 24, 2026 — Kentucky Right to Life acknowledges death in March of Kermit Gosnell at 85 years of age. He died in a hospital after being transferred from the prison where he was serving a multiple-life sentence. Gosnell operated an abortion facility in the state of Pennsylvania where thousands of innocent lives were lost.
Gosnell was convicted in 2013 of 237 crimes, including the murders of infants born alive, the death of a patient, and hundreds of violations of state law. His facility—described by investigators as dangerous, inhumane, and deplorable conditions. It became a national symbol of what can occur when vulnerable women and children left unprotected – in a state where abortion was legal and his clinic conditions and medical practices were horrific. His hideous crimes exposed not only the heartbreaking number of abortions he preformed daily but deeply disturbing failures in oversight and accountability.
He never showed public remorse, attempting instead to justify his actions in deeply troubling ways. At the time of his hearing, defended his actions, describing his abortions as a “war against poverty.”
Statement from Addia Wuchner, Executive Director, Kentucky Right to Life
“The death of Kermit Gosnell does not erase the horror of what took place, nor the lasting impact on the children and women who suffered and died.
I remember reading the very lengthy and detailed Grand Jury report years ago and feeling physically ill at the depth of the inhumanity described. What occurred was not simply a violation of law. This was not a clinic—it was a house of horrors. Gosnell was not an abortion provider—he was a serial killer hiding behind one.
For crimes of this magnitude, there are no parting words—only the responsibility to remember, to act, and to never allow such evil to take root again.”
Today our nation continues to need healing—from decades of legalized abortion and from the ongoing loss of innocent life. We pray for the children who have been lost, and for the many mothers and families who carry that grief, often in silence.
Every day, we recommit ourselves to building a culture where every life is protected, valued, and loved. This is our mission, and we will pursue it with unwavering resolve. #prolife Kentucky Today ImAlive @topfans Franklin County Right to Life Right to Life Kentucky Heartland West Kentucky Right To Life Right to Life of Owensboro Students for Life of America Diana Maldonado Meade-Breck Right to Life
