Kentucky Right to Life Weekly Update

“Every Life is a Gift”

THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE

Greeting Folks,

This week has truly been a mixed bag across Kentucky and our Nation – sort of like drinking out of a firehose.

Here in Kentucky, primary election season is in full swing. Mailboxes are overflowing, phones continue ringing, television ads dominate the airwaves, and campaign signs seem to appear overnight across every county road and neighborhood corner.

As Tuesday’s primary approaches, Kentuckians are once again reminded how important our voices and votes remain in shaping the future of our Commonwealth and nation.

At our house, I can honestly say our postal carrier is likely counting the hours until Wednesday morning. The mailers just keep coming.

Yet beyond campaign season, this has also been a significant week for pro-life, pro-mother, and pro-family conversations throughout our Nation.

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT

MAIL-ORDER ABORTION PILLS & THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT

Kentucky Right to Life

Deeply Disappointment with the Court Ruling

Abortion pills once again became the center of a major national legal battle this week as the Supreme Court of the United States issued a 7–2 decision allowing continued mail-order access to the abortion drug mifepristone without requiring an in-person physician appointment.

Thank you to Justice Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas who issued dissenting opinions.

The case began when Louisiana challenged federal policies allowing mifepristone to be prescribed through telehealth and distributed through the mail, arguing that these policies undermine state abortion laws and weaken longstanding medical safeguards designed to protect women.

Earlier this month, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily sided with Louisiana, restricting mail-order and telehealth distribution nationwide before the Supreme Court temporarily paused that ruling while considering the case further.

At the center of the debate remain serious questions involving state sovereignty, medical oversight, women’s health, and whether abortion-inducing drugs should continue being distributed without in-person physician examination or meaningful follow-up care.

Disappointment with the Court’s ruling.

For years, pro-life advocates, physicians, women harmed by chemical abortions, and states across the nation have raised concerns about the continued expansion of abortion pills distributed through the mail without adequate medical oversight or direct physician care.

Meanwhile, abortion pill providers have already indicated that if future restrictions on mifepristone emerge, they may increasingly rely on prescribing misoprostol alone — the second drug traditionally used in the two-drug abortion pill regimen — raising additional concerns regarding complications, patient safety, and the continued erosion of traditional medical standards.

Kentucky Right to Life continues to believe women deserve compassionate healthcare, proper medical supervision, informed consent, and better than abortion by mail.

NEW NATIONAL RESOURCE for MOMS

MOMS.GOV

This week we welcomed the launch of Moms.gov, a new national resource announced by the Trump Administration and the White House dedicated to supporting mothers, babies, and families.

Every mother deserves compassion, truthful information, encouragement, and real support — especially during difficult or unexpected pregnancies.

We are grateful for efforts that recognize the dignity of motherhood and seek to strengthen women and families across our nation.

This Weeks News from Neighboring States North of US and South of US…

LOOKING NORTH TO INDIANA

In neighboring state to the north Indiana, on May 14, 2026, the Indiana Supreme Court allowed the state’s pro-life protections to remain in effect by declining to reconsider a lower court ruling that upheld Indiana’s abortion law.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita called the decision an important victory for both the state and unborn children as Indiana continues defending its pro-life laws against ongoing legal challenges.

Indiana was the first state after the Dobbs decision to pass a new abortion law through legislative action, and the ruling serves as another reminder that states continue playing a major role in shaping abortion policy and protecting unborn life.

TENNESSEE ELEVATES THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY

WOW… Neighboring states. Just south of us in our neighboring state of Tennessee, Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed June as “Nuclear Family Month,” reaffirming the importance of strong families, marriage, children, and parental stability as foundational to a healthy society.

The proclamation emphasized the importance of the family unit — including biological, adoptive, and foster families — and expressed concern that the traditional family structure is increasingly under cultural pressure and in need of support and protection.

Not surprisingly, the announcement sparked immediate criticism from LGBTQ activists and national media outlets. In today’s culture, many institutions — from corporations and sports organizations to government agencies and retailers — now routinely participate in annual Pride Month observances during June. Tennessee’s action served as a reminder that such observances are cultural and political choices, not federally mandated requirements.

Historically, Pride Month observances grew from activist demonstrations that began in the early 1970s and later evolved through presidential proclamations issued by Presidents Clinton and Obama. While presidential proclamations carry symbolic significance, they do not establish binding law.

Tennessee’s proclamation has renewed a broader national conversation about the importance of family, faith, marriage, children, and the role stable homes play in building strong communities and nations.

At Kentucky Right to Life, we continue to believe that strong families remain the foundation of a healthy society and that mothers, fathers, and children deserve support, encouragement, and protection in a culture that increasingly challenges those values.

Returning to National News…

FERTILITY, IVF, AND ETHICAL CONCERNS

This week, the Trump Administration also announced a proposed rule expanding optional employer-based fertility coverage, including IVF-related services and fertility treatments.

The proposal comes amid increasing concerns regarding declining fertility rates and America’s falling birth rates.

As pro-life advocates, we recognize the profound pain experienced by couples struggling with infertility. The desire to welcome a child into one’s family is deeply human and deserving of compassion and support.

At the same time, modern reproductive technologies continue raising serious ethical concerns surrounding IVF, embryo destruction, commercial surrogacy, and the increasing commercialization and commodification of human life.

Every child is a gift — never a product.

Children should never be reduced to commodities within a marketplace, and women should never be viewed merely as commercial vessels.

Kentucky Right to Life continues to support ethical and life-affirming reproductive medicine that respects both mother and child while encouraging alternatives that do not involve the destruction of embryonic human life.

DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD

Protect Save Lives & Your Tax Dollars

As America approaches the celebration of our nation’s 250th Anniversary and the upcoming Fourth of July season, another important national conversation continues to unfold — the unfinished business and ongoing effort to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

We respectfully ask you to contact your Congressman and U.S. Senators and urge them to remain committed to:

“Defund Planned Parenthood. Protect Your Tax Dollars.”

For decades, millions of taxpayer dollars have continued flowing to the nation’s largest abortion provider while community health centers and life-affirming organizations continue serving women and families without performing abortions.

Thank you in advance for taking a few moments to make that important call and for continuing to stand for life, women, children, and families.

Calling Congress – The US House and Senate

You can call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Senator’s or Representative’s office. A staff member will pick up the phone. Ask to speak with the aide who handles the issues about which you wish to comment.

Identify yourself and mention you would like to leave a brief comment, such as:

“Please tell Senator/Representative (Name), that I am asking him to support the defunding of Planned Parenthood because I do my tax dollars going to support an organization that has taken the lives of millions of preborn children. I would like to know your position on this matter. July 4, is fast approaching. Please act soon. Thank you.”
